Should I remove ice shield and or flashing that was placed in a valley by a roofing contractor when I replace?
shingles in that area that have lifted because of sun/heat reflection, or should I just replace the shingles at that valley on the side they have lifted. There is no leak! Ice shield apparently has done a terrific job there.
There is already ice shield under the flashing.
Unless the shield or flashing have been compromised, I wouldn’t remove them. They are there for a very good reason. To keep your roof from leaking, rotting, falling in. Every time we deck and felt a roof, we always flash our valleys. Valleys create natural waterfall runoffs and will accumulate more ice. The ice dam prevents leakage. These are necessary and I wouldn’t remove them unless I intended to replace them. Good luck!
