Guitar Pickguard
can i paint my guitar pickguard?
i’m having trouble finding the right pickguard for my guitar. I was thinking about just painting it. What kind of paint should i use? Will it scratch off easily?
Yes, you can do it. Very lightly scratch the pick guard with very fine sand paper. This will give the paint a texture to cling to. Acrylic works the best. Make sure it is rated to paint plastic if that is what your pick guard is made of. Good luck.

If you want to learn how to play a guitar then here is your lesson one. The first thing that you need to know is to be able to identify every part of this musical instrument. You shall be using it for the whole duration of your training program; and you shall be using it every time you want to play songs on guitar. Hence, it is just imperative that you should know each part so that you can easily refer which part you are talking about.
It is essential to note that this instrument is divided into three main parts; the headstock, the neck, and the body. The headstock is like the brain because it greatly influences the tune of the guitar. It consists of the nut, which separates the headstock from the neck, and the turning machine heads. There are usually six turning machine heads which hold the 6 strings; just twist the heads to adjust it when tuning the guitar to the right tune.
Moving on with our lesson one on how to play a guitar, the next part to learn is the neck; this is divided by the truss rods into 20 frets, making the fret boards. As you move on with your training, you shall be discussing more about frets because this greatly determines the tune of the chord. Frets are numbered from 1 to 20; fret number one is located nearest the headstock; while fret number 20 is the one that is located at the body portion that is nearest the sound hole. Other parts within the neck include the position marker, marked by white spots, and the fingerboard.
The largest part of this musical instrument is the body; this consists of the sound board, sound hole, saddle, bridge, bridge pins, end pin, pick guard, waist, and bouts. The bridge mounts the bridge pins and the saddle. There are 6 bridge pins which hold the other tip of the strings; while the saddle is where the strings are mounted in order to keep it from coming into contact with the body.
The sound hole absorbs the sounds made by the strings; while the sound board is the hollow portion where the sound is more emphasized. The pick guard is a small covering board placed on top of the body to protect it from being scratched by the pick when strumming the strings.
The aforementioned things are the essential parts which you need to know at this point. Your lesson one on how to play a guitar ends here; carefully understand and memorize the things that you have learned in this lesson so that you can easily move on to the next stage of your training.
