Grateful Dead

Existence is only as good as it is honestly lived and done. Indeed, genuinely, reality is what we fully make of it ourselves. To be clear in life and communication in the fullest sense takes real honesty. That is what this article is about.

Sure, the most horribly simple things can end up the most wonderfully complex by virtue of the phenomena of growth and change meaning that what is simple and dumb can end up complex and interesting through growth, integration and change. But, for something to maintain its clarity like it had when it was simple, it must keep honesty and effort at the forefront of its evolution consciously. One of the ways this is done is invariably self discipline. Another way is effort filled conscious thinking and doing, and thinking and doing is in that order, thinking and then doing. Indeed, thoughts back up actions and not the other way around until after the action is done and then you go on to the next thought and action to do.

In my mind, that is how things are done, always, rational thought and then rational action. I did not say that this is an idea for things to get done perfectly all the time, but this does lead to ultimate success, meaning, no matter what you do know what works and what does not, and only do what works and what leads to success in the reality of the situation. Sure, my approach sounds like an engineering or technical approach to life, and it is, sure. But this is the best way to approach life which is in line with one of my early articles called “The Life Of A Professional”, I suggest it be read again for reference. For I believe and know, in that order, that approaching life professionally and honestly is the best approach to living that I do know. Although I do not practice it perfectly, I do it to the best of my ability, getting ever better and ever clearer in my intentions, actions and reality.

When your intentions, actions and self controlled reality is clear, your life is completely clear. I did not say perfect, but clear. Clear meaning honest and workable, no matter how simple or complicated, it can be controlled, done and realized in a right way.

So, as I write this article, I think of my interpretation of the meaning of life. I think the meaning of life is to be ever more happy with yourself and ever more effective for yourself. Only, sure, I do say the meaning of life is to be ever more happy with myself and ever more effective with myself. I only used the word “yourself” to make a point, anyone can be a genuine winner through clarity and honesty with themselves. Life is what we all make of it.

My name is Joshua Clayton, I am a freelance writer based in Inglewood, California. I also write under a few pen-names and aliases, but Joshua Clayton is my real name, and I write by that for the most part now. I am a philosophical writer and objective thinker and honest action taker.
I also work at a senior center in Gardena, California as my day job, among other things, but primarily I am a writer. As a kid I did construction work with my Dad which taught me many things like plumbing, hard labor and electrical systems, and I took notes for my Dad’s home poker games at my Uncle Johnnie Gilmore’s house, so I have a lot of life experience, sure. But I went to Cal State Dominguez Hills College, UCLA, and El Camino Junior College and learned a lot, but never got around to getting a degree, just lots of money spent, good grades and some credits. So, here I am currently freelance writing and working at a senior center for a living.
But enough details of my life, what I do is not what I am. So here is what I enjoy, I enjoy reading, listening to music (everything from Beethoven, Strauss and Bach to The Meters, ELO and The Band and Dylan/Garcia and The Grateful Dead also, when they were the Grateful Dead. Well, as you can tell by SOME of the music I listen to, I am a very eclectic person. I am also a deep science fiction fan and as said before, a lover of books. If I were to go into everything it would take thousands of words and I only have about three hundred words here, of which I have used 290 of already. Well, I end here. Thanks. Joshua Clayton.

Grateful Dead – View from the Vault [VHS]

$6.99

Since 1994, Grateful Dead Productions has answered Deadheads’ demands for full, live concerts, releasing a series of shows (blemishes and all) on CD entitled Dick’s Picks. So it was only a matter of time before the company dug into the video footage archives. Critics may find the idea of releasing Grateful Dead concert videos amusing. After all, the staunchest Deadhead likely would admit that…

Rock & Roll, Volume 3 (Crossroads, Blues in Technicolor)

Crossroads traces the blues, another African American tradition that changed the sound of Rock and Roll, from the Mississippi Delta to Chicago to the UK, where this earthy rich sound inspired a host of young British musicians bored with the pop music of the day. Eric Clapton, John Mayall, Keith Richards and Bill Wyman of the Rolling Stones and Jeff Beck tell how their hits introduced American fans…
